Going to the Movie Theaters

You have to be there ONTIME on the start of the movie.  Hindi puedeng ulitin……..After the movie, they let everyone out……..they clear & clean  the room…………….before the next scheduled showing starts.

It is only Seating capacity….they stop selling tickets when all the seats are sold.. NO STANDING on the isle, it is against the  City Ordinance for the protection of the people in case of emergency.

No Smoking inside, Cell phones has to be turn off, babies are not allowed inside,  NO TALKING…..you will be sent out if you talked. Eating is allowed.

I remember sa Pilippines…….you can stay all day inside the movie theater……..puedeng mong ulitin hangang mag-sawa ka,  ganyan pa ba  hangan ngayong diyan ???

Here's something you dont know.......after the movie ends.....and if the movie is really Good........people starts clapping their hands to show that they really like the movie........unique custom of americans........... W

Going to Doctors and Dentist clinics by appointment only

HIndi ka puede pumunta sa mga private clinics WITHOUT an Appointment schedule..........fully book ang mga doctor dito for a month or so. You have to call first, set a date & time to see the Dr.  If you dont show up on your set date, they will charge you a fee for no show.

You can not just go to the clinic on the spot without an appointment because the doctor will not see you at all.

ONLY ON  REAL emergency  ( life&death situation) will the doctors see you without an appointment………….or You can go to the Emergency Room in any Hospital…….they will take you.

If it is not a real emergency……they will not see you without an appt. but they will give you a date & time to return to the clinic….

Example: 3 weeks ago, my tooth is aching & my gum is swollen. I called the Dentist but they said the Dr is fully book that day.  So the receptionist told me to come next day at noon time which is the only available time for the Dr. because I told them, it is sort of emergency because my gums is really swollen & I need a Dr RX for Penicillin drug to take to subside the swelling.
Penicillin drugs must be prescribed by a Doctor…..because you can not buy it in the Pharmacy here without Prescription. ( Mahigpit talaga dito )
If you need Physical exam, flu shot, xray, etc.etc…regular routine medical examinations & dental work……you are required to call first for appt…

Jaja…..pag-dating mo dito sa States you will find out about this when you work as a Nurse. Usually ang private nurses ng Doctors are nag-bibigay ng appt. sa patients.

Continuation...........

I went to see the Dentist on my appt.date at noon time, he only gave me the Penincillin RX.......and told me to return one week later after the swelling of the gums subsides........So the receptionist schedule an appt. for me one week from that day.........After one week, I return on my appt.date and the Dentist extracted my Tooth.....

Overbook talaga ang mga doctor dito...their time is very precious....mahirap kumuha ng appt. dito, kung minsan isang buwan pa ulit bago ka makakuha ng appt. date, sa dami ng pasyente na naka-book ahead of you.......

Ang usual payment dito ay through the Insurance Company. The Doctor send the bill to the Insurance Company. If you do not have Insurance Coverage, you have to pay Cash in front after the service is done.

Kaya mayayaman ang mga doctor dito....... Grin

Death in the family ----- American style

Patay -----  Hindi puedeng dalhin sa bahay ang coffin ng patay na tao, it is against the law dito.

Sa Funeral homes dinadala ang Coffin. Either you will be buried under ground or  Cremation depending sa gusto ng familya.
May Fixed time ang pag-punta sa funeral parlor. Different parlors has diff. time schedule of viewing. Example - people are allowed to visit from  2pm-8pm  or  from 4pm-9pm.

They close the place & let everyone  out after 9pm, no exception including the family of the dead person.
Walang Lamay lamay dito , hindi uso dito yan.

Sa pinas, walang tulogan ang tao, all day gising. Saka nasa bahay ang coffin ng bankay. Kainan at inuman ng café habang nag-lalamay.

Hehehehe......pano matutulog sa cine eh maingay ang tao ?

Another thing here is this.  People buy tickets ahead of time from the internet or they call to reserve a seat.  So if you fall in line to buy a ticket for the first show, it usually says SOLD OUT. You will be force to buy ticket for the next schedule show.  This usually happens on opening day of a movie specially if the movie is well publicized ....like for example Spiderman 3.

Movie here cost about $10.00 for adults and $ 7.50 for kids. If I  want to see the movie again, I usually wait for the DVD to come out & buy it or borrow it from the library.  I bought a complete set of Spiderman 1, 2 and 3. Grin

Mandatory Smog Test Before you can register your Car at the Dept of Motor Vehicles ( DMV )

California law requires you to have a Smog check test every 2 years before you can register your car. All Cars sold in Calif. has a Smog Device. You have to bring your car to a Smog Station for test. They will hook up your car to a computer testing device. It will transmit all the data directly to the DMV computer system. You will be given a printout copy if you pass or fail the test.
After the test, you can now register your car at the DMV office. It cost between $70.00-$ 75.00 for the smog test .  The main purpose of this test is to REDUCE POLLUTION in the air.

I just had my car smog yesterday.......I pass it.  So next year I dont need a smog test.....my next schedule smog test will be in 2010. DMV usually sends a notice in the mail 3 months before your registration expires, to give you enough time to have your test or fix your car if you failed the test & do a re-test.

It is expensive to have a smog test BUT it is the law. You will get a ticket & warning violation if you drive your car with an expired registration.
