Termination of Pinoy nurses in UAE questioned
Quote:The Philippine embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has met with Filipino nurses who were allegedly terminated from their work for failing to pass clinical assessment tests in Abu Dhabi, an online news site reported Thursday.

Lily Libo-on,s article "Philippine envoy to discuss nurses case," published online by the Khaleej Times, reported that Ambassador Libran Cabactulan plans to discuss the nurses, problem with the UAE,s Ministry of Health.

He will also ask that the clinical assessment tests be reviewed and assessed by internationally-accredited nursing institutions in the Philippines.

More international nurses headed for Sask
Quote:REGINA -- The arrival of 300 Filipino nurses recruited to work in the province's health-care system will be staggered over the coming months, according to Lynn Digney Davis, the province's chief nursing officer.

"There are some coming, actually, the middle of this month, some coming in September, October, November, and December,'' Digney Davis said. "So the majority of them should be here in the province towards the end of December.''

In March a delegation from Saskatchewan comprising representatives from the government, five health regions, the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) and the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) travelled to the Philippines to recruit nurses to work in Saskatchewan.

After nursing, oversupply of seafarers looms

After nursing, oversupply of seafarers looms

Following concerns brought by the oversupply of nurses, the Philippines may soon find itself again faced with another problem: a saturated market for seafarers.

Father Savino Bernardi, director of the Apostleship of the Sea (AOS), said the Philippines has been producing seafarers in excess of employers' requirements. AOS offers pastoral care to all seafarers and fishermen, their dependents and communities.

Fr. Bernardi said that a total of 94 maritime colleges have been approved by the Commission on Higher Education. He said these colleges offer three-year courses like marine deck and engineers.

"Every year they produce 30,000 graduates," Fr. Bernardini said based on estimates. These graduates would then be classified as able seamen or ordinary seamen after examinations from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

lpn salary
Hello Dear,
An LPN or Licensed Practical Nurse, also known as a LVN or Licensed Vocational Nurse, cares for patients under the direction of both physicians and Registered Nurses.
DO you how much the lpn salary !!!
The salary range a nurse can expect to get will depend not only on the exact responsibility or job description. The salary range depends also very much on the academic title and type of nursing licensure. The average salary you can expect as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) is lower than what a registered nurse (RN) can expect to be offered, even when having the same duties.
As disclosed by a survey of Salary.com, the minimum LPN salary will be in the range of $31,496 to $43,323. As mentioned above, the geographical location, service years, type of facility worked for and even the hospital budget can affect the rate of the nurse. A concrete example of how geography plays a role when looking at the LPN salary range in Massachusetts. LPNs in MA earn around $35,483 to $48,848. When compared to the first figures given, the LPNs in MA are clearly given a higher wage, a $5000 range difference. Also, the cost of living and demand can spell the difference. Life in a bustling city is far different from a relatively peaceful and quiet suburban. Nurses in the metropolitan area considerably get higher wages as they have to thrive in high-cost living areas.

More concrete data is given by the studies made by the Bureau of Labor Statistics saying that the top three states giving the highest LPN hourly wage are Connecticut with $24.39, Massachusetts at $22.72 and wrapping the three is New Jersey with $22.5. Meanwhile the lowest three are North Dakota ($15.42), Missouri ($15.38) and Louisiana ($15.14).

Thanks
