“The Face”

There was once this girl who gave everything up for the sake of love. She didn,t know how it happened but the moment she saw that face, she knew it was a face she wouldn,t forget. People thought she was practically out of her mind for having fallen in love with a total stranger; yet she didn,t care. She was utterly obsessed with the face that everything she saw reminds her of the face. Then one day, to her absolute disbelief, she was introduced to the face by one of her friends. They became friends but unfortunately, not very close. She was thrilled that she didn,t care if the face feels the same way or not. The girl gave him everything a friend could ever ask for but still this moment wasn,t enough to catch his attention. Never did the girl expect anything in return and to her disbelief, the face completely ignored all her efforts. Everybody knew about this girl,s feelings for the face, including the face. Knowing this didn,t bother the face even a bit. Then one day, the girl met a terrible accident. She died saving his life. After her death, the face realized how horrible he had been to his friend. His friend, he knew, was genuine, and he was not, the face could never think of a single instance that he had been beside her, especially when she was in need of company. When the face flunked most of his subjects at school and desperately needed someone to turn to, the girl was there. His friend had been there when he needed her. The face suddenly felt sick to his stomach and he could not figure out how ungrateful and selfish he had been to her. As they say, regrets are always in the end. He regretted that he wasn,t able to return his kindness even once. After a while, he realized that he was in love with her all along. He merely has the guts to tell her, especially after the way he treated her. It,s just that sometimes some of us get so caught up in our own thing that we forget the people who add sunshine in our lives. We seldom realize how much those people deeply affect our lives. Oftentimes, we only realize this after we love them. So take time to let these people know how much you care for them before it,s too late.
