Although women trafficking is not a human rights violation issue specific to Filipinas, it is one of the problems the country's government faces. Because of economic uncertainty, some Pinays resort to participating in the s*x trade. This does not just happen locally; many Pinays go abroad (such as in Japan) and work as entertainers/prostitutes. Some of them end up marrying Japanese nationals to be able to stay in the country. The government and NGOs find ways to give advice for women regarding the penalties of engaging in the trade. Is the government's efforts lacking on this issue?
