Sixth Swine Flu death in Spain
The 53 year old died in Valencia on Monday and is the second fatality in the region
A 53 year old man who died in Valencia this Monday morning has become Spain’s sixth victim of the A(H1N1) virus. Few details have been given on this latest case, but he’s reported to have already been in a serious condition when he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at La Ribera Hospital, Alzira. The Alzira patient is the second Swine Flu fatality in the Valencia Region. The first – and the fifth fatality in Spain - was an Algerian man with kidney problems who died in Alicante province on Monday last week as he was being transferred by ambulance to hospital. An autopsy later confirmed that he had the virus. A 28 year old woman confirmed as having the virus remains in a serious condition at Valencia’s 9 d’Octubre Hospital, while the condition of two others in the Hospital La Fe is said to be improving. El Mundo reports that one is a 32 year old man who has been moved from Intensive Care to the wards and could soon be discharged from hospital. The other is a pregnant woman who is said to be progressing well. Up until Monday 27th July, Spain’s Health Ministry had confirmed 1,806 cases of the A(H1N1) virus through laboratory testing. Minister Trinidad Jiménez announced this Monday that children up to the age of the 14 will be amongst those to be vaccinated against the ‘new’ flu. Other groups include health professionals and staff from other basic essential services, pregnant women and those with a chronic medical condition or problems of obesity – it’s understood that would include asthma, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and kidney problems, amongst others. The Minister also revealed that the vaccine for the virus will have to be given in two doses. ' don't be so insecure to that person you think having a better life than you do, coz sometimes, that one thing you're jealous of, is the only thing she has, and of all the fun simple things you enjoy, who knew, she might have been praying so hard to be in your shoes.' - dkny |
