The 28 year old woman died in hospital in Valencia this Monday

A 28 year old patient in Valencia became Spain's ninth victim of the A(H1N1) virus when she died this Monday in the city's Hospital 9 de Octubre.

The Health Ministry has given no further details of the patient's name and condition, but it is known that a woman of that age has been in a serious condition in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit since at least 20th July and was confirmed as having the virus.

The Valencia health authorities said at the time that the patient was in the high risk sector, with an underlying health condition of obesity and hyperthyroidism.

This latest patient is the third to fall victim to the virus in the Valencia Region, after the death of a 53 year old man in Alzira on 27th July, and the fifth victim in Spain, a 45 year old man with renal problems, who died in Teulada, Alicante province, on 20th July.
