Acne
Acne is caused by over-active oil-producing sebaceous glands and usually occurs where these are largest, on the face, chest and back.
Most common during adolescence or in women during the menopause or just before a period, acne can be caused by hormonal imbalance, stress and poor diet. DIET: * Vitamins E, A & C are all important for acne sufferers. * Eat loss of fresh fruit and vegetables, especially carrot and beetroot. * Cut out junk foods and eat less sugar, carbohydrates and animal fats. Herbs That Help: To purify the blood, take an infusion/decoction of one of the fallowing; dandelion, nettle, yellow dock root. To control infection, take a decoction of echinacea root. To help balance hormone production, eat wheatgerm. To cleanse greasy skin, use a mixture of equal parts lemon juice and witch hazel. Warning: If you are pregnant, check the list of herbs to be avoided and consult your doctor before using herbs to treat any condition.
