Your Career
Make it as an intern.
Whether you are beginning an internship or thinking of changing careers.

How to make the most of your work experience.

• Spot a good placement. Quality internships will be advertised publicly and require an interview. They should also give you a reference at the end.

• Claim any cash you're due. Working for free can cause financial strain, but some councils have recently changed their rules, allowing you to claim job-seekers allowance while completing an unpaid internship.

• Reap the benefits for the long term. Do your best to impress and ask if a colleague will act as a mentor for you. This will give you even more great skills to use when applying for a job.
