Health Benefits : Avocado Pears
Every slimmer knows that luscious avocado pears are high-fat, high calorie treat.
But they are also almost a complete food, supplying a little protein and starch as well as the pure oil which is mainly a monounsaturated fat.
The avocado is potassium rich, deficiency in which can cause fatigue, depression and poor digestion among other things.
It is also a good source of vitamin A, some B complex, a little C and some vitamin E.

Avocado is an excellent food for convalescents, and for those suffering from stress or from sexual problems.
Women in particular, who are often warned off avocados extra high in fat and calories, should eat plenty of this fruit for the sake of their skin.
New research shows that substances in the pulp of an avocado appear to trigger DNA to produce more embryonal collagen, the soluble kind we start our lives with, producing smooth and supple skins.
Another threat to to a beautiful skin is cross-linking, the result of free radical activity.
And avocados are particularly highly endowed with anti-oxidants in shape of vitamins A, C & E, to quell free radical activity, while their oil is almost entirely monounsaturated, needing little or no antioxidants to protect it.
They are thus superfoods for the circulatory system, as well as for the skin.

The fats in an avocado, incidentally , are unusually easy to digest.
And researchers have also found a unique antibacterial and anti-fungal substance in the pulp.
