It is time for one more Commonwealth Games, which is conducted once in four years. You may know that the Games has evolved a lot since the first time held in Canada in 1930. A glimpse into the history of Commonwealth Games will reveal these facts.

The Games, which was earlier known as British Empire Games, had been organised to promote the goodwill and cooperation among the nations which were once under the British empire. Over the years, the nature, features and even the name of the event had undergone changes. There are a lot of new sports events included in the Games since 1930. With more countries gaining independence from the British empire, the number of participants in the Games too increased considerably.

The 19th Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi is expected to draw a large number of foreigners. In spite of the controversies related to the Games, the authorities have arranged a lot of facilities for the guests. Apart from the quality infrastructure for sportspersons and guests, the Government has taken into account the health-related facilities needed for them. They have set up health centres in the Game village apart from inviting more than 100 Ayurvedic masseurs to the village. The presence of masseurs will ensure massage facilities to the sportspersons.
