The Bat
The bat is, crumpled-up brown fabric
With bin liner wings Swooping swiftly, but silently Through the dark forbidding trees The bat is the highwayman of the forest Insects to avoid him, but he is so silent they don't hear him They are shocked, silly dancing about From toads toll to the tree top 'Hands up' the highwayman squeaks before he gobbles them up The bat is also the ugly sister at the ball Turned aside, cursed by all He flies once more, Flitting daintily A mouse, with razor sharp teeth Nimbly dodging the trees, his glossy black eyes Glisten in the moonlight, cat's eyes in the mood His claws are the highwayman pistols But they are grey and worn The color of the seal pup's skin and winter mornings His radar sense in the pitch darkness Guides the highwayman back to his chair Where he hangs, oblivious to the world asleep. ' don't be so insecure to that person you think having a better life than you do, coz sometimes, that one thing you're jealous of, is the only thing she has, and of all the fun simple things you enjoy, who knew, she might have been praying so hard to be in your shoes.' - dkny |
