Border Tutorial
Title: Border Tutorial
Description: Learn how to make a border in an image.
Difficulty: Basic
Required Program: Adobe Photoshop 7 or higher (CS/CS2)

This tutorial is good for forum sigs and for photography.

1. Get an image that you want to put a border with.
I chose this one:

Now Open Adobe photoshop.

2. Open the image in Photoshop.

3. Now, duplicate the layer and hide the Background Layer or Main Layer.
Because we can't do the border using the main background.

So right click on the Background Layer and click Duplicate.

Now, click the eye icon in the main layer to hide that layer.

4. Click the Background Copy Layer and go to Edit Menu >> Stroke.

Then, a pop-up will appear. Apply these settings:

Then, your done!

Here's the result:

P.S. You might not see the border because its white, so try highlighting the image.

Re: Border Tutorial
1.open an image. double click it at the layer palette to change it to a layer instead of a background.

2.go to image>>canvas size. check the relative box and change the inches to pixels for width and height. put 30 for width and height.
3.make a new layer. rename it canvas. select the paintbucket tool and fill the new layer with a color u want for your canvas. rearrange the layer so that the picture would be on top

4.design your canvas. i designed my canvas using filter>>add noise. filter>>stylize>>wind. filter>>brushstroke>>angled strokes.

5. make a new layer and rename it frame. put the new layer on the top of the picture and the canvas in the layer palette. go to image>>canvas size>> with the relative box check and inches changed to pixels, i added another 20 for width and height.

6.select the rectangular marquee and make a rectangle around the canvas. use paintbucket tool and fill it with the desired color for your frame.

7.go to modify>>contract>>contract by 8-10 pixels. then press delete.

8. in step five i added 20 pixels so now am going to reduce it by 20 pixels. go to image>>canvas size>>uncheck the relative box>>change inches to pixels. and you will see the size of your canvas. my original size is width:290 and height:230. i put 270 for width and 210 for height. click ok. then click proceed. if you have done this correctly the uneccessary space around your frame will be removed.

9. right click the frame layer in the layer palette and select blending options. put a check on inner shadow, drop shadow, bevel and emboss and contour. (you can choose the contour for your frame by double clicking contour.)
[Image: slamdunk5rs7.jpg] this is the end product.

~may additional steps lng para maging ganito. madali lng kaso needs patience.[Image: wallpaperyc9.jpg]

Re: Border Tutorial
another technique for creating border/frame for picture:

1.open picture desired.

2.double click it in the layer palette to make it a layer instead of a background. it will be named as layer 0

3.make a rectangle around the picture that u want to be framed using the rectangular marquee tool.

4.then right click on the photo and select layer via cut. you now have 2 layers in the layer palette. (layer 0 and layer 1)

5.hide layer 1 by clicking the eye in the layer palette. then select the empty space in layer0 using the rectangular marquee tool.

6. make layer1 visible again. it would look like this.

7.right click on layer0 and select blending options. put a check on inner shadow, drop shadow, inner glow and outer glow. then double click on bevel and emboss. you can change it to inner or outer bevel depending on your taste. just play along with the choices until satisfied with the desired outcome. these are my blending options.
[Image: untitled3kx3.jpg](don't forget to select "down" in the direction option)

this is my end product:
