The movie was heavily fictionalized for commercial success as well as cinematic effect. Ang historical Balian ay mayaman talaga at hindi isang blacksmith. Hindi rin nagsuicide ang asawa niya.

He fought well in real life, be it on battle or forging alliances within the corrupt royal court. Unlike the on-screen Balian, matanda na siya when the seige of Jerusalem occured.

Sibylla was (correctly) married to Guy pero hindi sila ni Balian nagka-affair.

Good points: one of the few films that portray Muslims are as fair and just people, more so than their "Christian" counterparts who hang Muslims just because they are of a different faith (infidels).

The cast is supposedly strong with Liam Neeson as Balian Sr. (but portrayed as Godfrey in the movie), Academy award winner Jeremy Irons as the king's advisor Tiberias - but then Orlando, being on the lead role puro lang mga sad moments ang laging ipinapakita save for some speeches here and there. :53:
