Basic Signature Tutorial
Title: Basic Signature (Sig) Tutorial
Description: Here's how you create your own sig using brushes and your rendering skills. Difficulty: Easy but Tricky Required Programs: Adobe Photoshop 7 or higher (CS/CS2) This is the tutorial I've been waiting to show you all. Because sig is the first artwork that beginners do. This might be tricky for you, but keep practicing. 1. Get an image that you think, is easy to render. I used this one as an example: Halo or Master Chief 2. Open Adobe Photoshop. Open the image you want to render. 3. Create new document. I create signatures using the size 500 x 200 for a better view. 4. Now we will render the half body of Master Chief by using the Magnetic Lasso Tool in the tool panel. ![]() This is the result: ![]() You see, rendering might be the hardest. But if you have skills, rendering an image will be easy, in fact, the easiest. 5. Now that we're done rendering, we have to check and clear some spots in our rendered image to make it will look good. Then, let's copy the rendered image and put it in our created document. Then make the image fit in the document. Like this: ![]() 6. Now its time to get some brushes for the background. I download my brushes here: Brushes Get some grunge brushes and tech brushes so the sig will look good. Or you can get some abstract . Whatever you want, you can use these three at the same time, or once. I used this. Nayru's Abstract Brush Set 2 7. Now we will load the brushes in the photoshop so we could use it. ![]() 8. Using the Brush tool in the tool panel, choose the brush you load, and use it in the sig. There are lots of them so choose the best ones. ![]() 9. Here's the tip on using brushes: Whenever you use brushes, always create a new layer. Hide the rendered image because you might miss some parts of the document if the rendered image is blocking it. What I always do is create a new white background layer for the color black brushes then a new layer for white brushes then combine them both by creating a new layer and use Color Balance or Hue/Saturation in the Image Adjustments. If you think that when you use the hue/saturation or color adjustments and the brushes are too bright, don't use too much brushes. Like this: ![]() These are the layers I have using the brushes. I have the black brushes layer, the white brushes layer, the created layer for the merge, then the rendered image. 10. Now, we will merge the two brushes (white and black). But first you got to put the new layer in the bottom of the two brushes, now click the black/white brushes and press CTRL + E in the keyboard to merge. 11. Now I only have two layers left: the brushes merge layer and the rendered image. ![]() 12. Then, we create our custom colors for the brush layer by going to Image menu >> Adjustments >> Color Balance then use these settings: ![]() ![]() 13. Now put the brush layer under the rendered image so the rendered image will show. From here, I can say your done, you can put text if you want, or use feathers for the rendered image. Here's how to use feather in rendered image: Feather is used when you want your rendered image to blend in the other layers or pictures. 1. Click the rendered image and click the icon of the layer: If you click the icon this is what gonna happen to the rendered image: ![]() Now, go to Select menu >> Feathers then I use the number 3 for how much feather you want the image. Then press and hold CTRL + SHIFT + I to select Inverse then press Delete to delete the unselected parts of the body. Now you're done! All you got to do is save it as JPEG. This is what I came up with. ![]() |

Thanks!
I couldn't stop making them when I used to be a beginner coz I couldn't try something else, since I had to learn the tools first.. |
