Anne Curtis screams in fear, falls because of director of 'Wag Kang Lilingon'

Twenty–one year old actress Anne Curtis never saw a paranormal entity before but remembered clearly her frightening experience while at home. She was in their living room one night when she heard knockings coming from their dirty kitchen. She was surprised to hear them because their dirty kitchen didn't have a door so she thought her dad probably just came home. She opened their front door to welcome her dad but no one was there. That scared her and she crept away without looking towards their dirty kitchen!

Her unforgettable experience is likened to what moviegoers would see her go through in Star Cinema's two-story-horrorflick "Wag Kang Lilingon" which opens on November 15. Playing the nurse Celine in the episode "Uyayi," she began experiencing strange events particularly the rising deaths of patients in the said hospital. As she began investigating with her boyfriend James, she would come close to revelations she would rather not face and run terrified, thus the stern warning applies that could save them, "Wag Kang Lilingon!"

According to Anne she had fun doing this horror film despite the fact that she scares easily. In fact in one scene and because of her director Quark Henares, she came out terrified, fell on her steps and cried.

It happened after the director briefed her on her next scene. But without her knowing, Quark sent someone inside the closet to breathe heavily and call out her name in an eerie voice.

"After I closed the door ang dilimdilim na. Then I thought I heard breathings so I just told myself it was my imagination. When the director yelled action, someone from the dark called my name. I screamed and fell then the director came to me and apologized…hindi naman ako nagalit sa kanya kasi game naman ako sa mga ganun," she shared.

Easily scared, how did she endure her scenes?

"I don't know. Maybe that's why I'm called an actress. I have to improvise on something in a way. They say that as an actress you emote that has happened to you before. That's why the drama actresses they hold to some pains in their lives. Ako naman, the moment na natakot ako sa ginawa ni direk Quark, kung paano ako natakot, ganun na yung ginamit ko sa movie," she explained.

Compared to her past films or drama series like her current one, "Maging Sino Ka Man" where she plays the socialite Celine, acting in a horror movie is harder according to her. In drama she stressed the ease of being motivated by one's past hardships or sad experience. Yet in horror films, how does one fake one's fright and make it look real on the silver screen?

"Mahirap talaga. Like I was saying in drama when you have so much emotional pains from before, you extract from those emotions that you need. Pero para humugot to get scared, ang hirap kaya yun lalo na kung fake. Sana I was able to give justice to my role…it requires a lot of imagination."

Her decision to accept this movie project as well as "Maging Sino Ka Man," she intimated has placed her under scrutiny regarding her career decisions. With regard to the latter, she heard that it was a John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo TV project and that she wouldn't get much attention. The same goes with "Wag Kang Lilingon" wherein she heard some negative reactions to her accepting a horror movie project.

"For me as I always say I've never been choosy of my roles," she remarked. "Parang may nababasa ako na bakit ako pumayag to play these roles. But for me as an actress you don't choose your roles based on exposures like our characters in ‘Maging Sino Ka Man' is character based and at the moment they're just establishing the characters. For me talaga as an actress you don't accept something for exposure. You accept it for quality and you accept it for learning and versatility which are something I want."

"Wag Kang Lilingon" is not Anne Curtis' first horror flick. She played the daughter of a demon in Viva Films' "Ikalabintatlong Kapitolo" and if given a chance she would want to reprise her role again. She felt she could do more if that film was remade since she's a better actress than before. And she really adored that movie.

With regard to her personal life, there are two things that would terrify the young actress. One is losing someone she loves and the other is seeing death!

"I never lost someone I love and that scares me…I don't want to see death too especially to those people around me right now. Siguro that's the worst feeling!"

The other story in "Wag Kang Lilingon" is "Salamin" which stars Kristine Hermosa and is directed by Jerry lopez Sineneng. Kristine plays a family's breadwinner. When her father left her family for another woman, she moved on to a new place. Upon discovering an old mirror, she made a wish at the stroke of midnight with a lit candle. Superstitious beliefs have it that one can see one's future through that process. Unfortunately for her, it was as if she unlocked a Pandora's Box as evil spirits appeared and haunted her!

"I just hope our episodes won't be compared with each other because we're not competing on which one is scarier. Both have different stories and treatments which moviegoers will enjoy talaga," she quipped.

"Wag Kang Lilingon" also stars Cherry Pie Picache, Baron Geisler, Archie Alemania, Celine Lim, Raymond Bagatsing and Marviin Agustin.

Anne's return to God!

When how she felt about consistently being bestowed TV and movie projects, Anne simply attributed her current successes to her return to God.

"I'm just praising the Lord with all the blessings I've been getting right now. This is also the time that I accepted and allowed God to enter my heart again. After that sunod-sunod na ang blessings na dumating sa buhay ko. That's how good He is!"

She explained that she prayed and believed in God but she admitted to not having made extra efforts to profess her faith. For example, though she prays, she did not make time to attend masses even if she wasn't busy.

"I let Him in my heart again. It's amazing and it may sound weird coming from me but ngayon ko lang naramdaman ito…Now I hear masses. And after that you really get blessed when you make the extra effort. I also learned that you must converse with God. It's not all about praying Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be but it is really about having a conversation with Him. And sunod sunod yung mga nakalimutan kong things that I hoped for yung biglang ay Thank you God, yung kinikilig ako kay God," she exclaimed.

Next in line for Anne Curtis is a Wen Deramas comedy which will star her with Ai Ai Delas Alas and Luis Manzano. Though her dream role remains to be "Dyesebel" and she hopes that someday she'll win herself a best actress award from a drama movie.

With regards to Luis, as always this is her usual comment about their relationship.

"From the moment we met each other hindi kami naghiwalay. I love him to death and madness. He's my soulmate. Hindi kami."
