Re: Scary Stories (Compilation)
A Father's Sign
This story happened shortly after the passing of my father. It was a very stressful time for my family and I. I was only 12 at the time and had to take over as the man of the house. Watching my younger brother and making sure he ate and bathed, things like that, while mom was at work, you know the responsible stuff. I had an older brother who was facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon for defending himself with a stick against another guy with a knife. Needless to say he both won and lost. He won the fight and lost his court case. But I am getting ahead of myself. The morning my brother went to trial, I was left home alone with my younger brother. We had been outside most of the morning playing with friends from around the neighborhood. My brother, a friend and myself decided to go in and get something to drink, my brother and friend went outside to drink theirs while I remained inside to clean up the mess. As I was walking by a picture of my older brother that was sitting on top of the TV, I wondered how the trial was going. Well wouldn't you know it, at that exact moment my brother's picture flew off the TV. It didn't fall from the TV, I watched it jump into the air and fly from it. Next thing I know, the oven door opened and closed on its own. Then a wind up song bird my father had bought for my mom began to play, this required that the bird be wound and a switch flipped to play. I was the only one in the house at the time and I could see the bird and oven from where I was standing so I know no one living had done either. The bird suddenly stopped playing and the front door opened and closed. I thought it was my brother or my friend coming in, it was neither as they had left their glasses on the table outside and were in the alley playing. I came to the only conclusion possible, that my father was letting me know that my brother was going to prison and that he would be watching out for him while he was there. Shortly after this mom called to let me know and I told her I already knew and explained what happened. Needless to say, she didn't believe me. I believe he was also there to say his good byes as my brother and I were never allowed in the hospital room with him while he lay dying. Some stupid hospital rule back then. This story is for you Dad. Know that you are loved and missed greatly. |

Re: Scary Stories (Compilation)
A Friend's Hard Time
My best friend in the world (Abi*) and I have known each other since birth. I actually went to the hospital and saw her the day after she was born (Of course I don't really remember because I was only eight months old at the time.) She and I are closer than any of my eight other family members to this day. There was a time in Abi's life that was the most difficult. Her father, the best man in the world!, had cancer in his esophagus. After his surgery, he couldn't eat solid foods for a couple months, but after his throat healed, the doctors thought he was ok. That is until blood started coming out when he used the bathroom. Then they discovered that he had cancer in his liver and several other places in his body. Abi, of course, took all this very hard. Her parents were constantly on the road, looking for clinics that could try and cure him. Abi ended up staying with me on and off for a couple months. Her main place to stay, though, was her parents friends, Cindi* and Dwight*. They had a bedroom for her and everything. One night, Abi had this horrible dream. Her dad was lying in a hospital bed. He told her he was dying. She asked if it was the cancer. He said no, I don't have lungs anymore. Of course, Abi woke up bawling and confused. It was a snow day that day and she called me at 9am and told me about the dream. (She was staying with Cindi and Dwight at the time because her parents were in Minneapolis.) I told her not to worry. Her dad would be home that day and everything would be fine. She told me she didn't think so in the saddest voice she's ever used. I secretly agreed with her. A couple hours later my mom told me the news. Abi's dad had died. In a shaky, hushed voice I asked if it was cancer that killed him. She said No. It was all the radiation in his body from chemotherapy. It caused his lungs to literally flatten and fail. Abi called me later that night on her way to Minneapolis. She and I talked for four hours about random stuff. We only talked once about her dad, and then she said she'd rather not think about it. So we just joked with each other, laughing until tears came down our eyes, Abi the same Abi as always even after the loss. A few days later when she came home, she told me about another dream. Her father was on a giant stage (he loved theater and acted in many many plays around the area) acting as the Cowardly Lion from Wizard of Oz. He looked over at Abi in the middle of his solo, winked, and told her he was fine now. He told her he was sorry about her other dream, but he needed to warn her. He told her he loved her, and she woke up. |

Re: Scary Stories (Compilation)
A Few Spooky Experiences
When my great grandmother was in the hospital dying, her brother passed away. Her siblings didn't want to put her in more pain, so they didn't tell her. They went to say goodbye to her, and when they came, she ignored everyone, except she had a entire conversation with the dead brother. Maybe he was her e*c*rt to heaven. I don't know what they were talking about though. This story was told to my mom who told it to me. Also, me and my mom were going to comfort my friend after her mom's death. My friend told me she was ok, but she wanted her mom to send her some kind of sign that she had a safe journey. Just then, her doorbell and telephone rang. Weird. One of my grandmother's friends husbands died suddenly. She was so sad. One day she went into his closet and there was no leaks or anything. His favorite outfit was soaking wet, but nothing else was. My cousin was at summer camp and was having a great time. Her mom told her to save all the letters that she got for scrapbook purposes. So when she got a letter dated july 7th from her grandmother, she thought nothing of it. When she got back her mother said that during camp her grandmother passed away. Then she showed her mother the letter and her mother passed out. The letter was dated the 7th but she died on the 6th. This is what the letter said. "Dear cassy, having a great time huh pumpkin? I can see that you have made some new friends huh? Hariet seems sweet. I'm in upper US now. My flight left yesterday. I'm watching you in my mind. Don't you forget Mom Mom you hear! I am still with you in spirit. Your momma has some news for you when you get back sweetie! Don't wanna spoil it! Well, I'm wasting your time, xoxo sweetie. I love you to death! Love Mom Mom" |

Re: Scary Stories (Compilation)
A Message to my Mother
One night, me and my mom were talking about ghosts, and whether or not she believes in them. She told me this story. Years and years ago, when I was very little, my mom and dad didn't get on very well, mostly because his mother didn't approve of her. One day, my mom couldn't find my father anywhere, so she went over to his mother, and she said angrily "He's gone away from you! for good, and that's all I have to say to you", and she slammed the door in my mom's face. Weeks past, and my mom was in despair. She said that her and her own mother were best friends, and at the time, she wished her mother had been there to help her through the situation. But both her father and mother were dead about 5 years at that time. One night she had a dream she was walking down a lain way, the one to her childhood house, and she said her mother was at the end of the lain. Her mother spoke to her and said "don't worry about anything, he has just gone away on sea but he will be back shortly, don't worry about the kids". She woke up, and on that day, my dad came knocking on the door. He then told my mom where he had been. "I was in London with my brothers" he said. Of course, there was no particular reason why he should have gone, I think he was seeing another woman, well at least I think that's what his mother thought, and to this day, my mom remembers that dream she had, so now I feel a little better when I tell her about all the strange things that do go on. |

Re: Scary Stories (Compilation)
A Phone Call from a Dead Friend
On October 15th, 3 years ago, I and two friends drove to Boise, Idaho so that I could have open heart surgery. I needed to have four bypasses done as my arteries were 90% plugged. When we arrived in Boise, we had to find a motel room to stay in over night, as I had to be at the hospital at 6am the next morning. My mom and brother were also going to be there but they would arrive a couple of hours later. We found a motel and checked in. We went to the room and took in our things for the night. We were sitting in the room for about 20 minutes when the phone rang and my care provider answered it. She got a funny look on her face and she said the phone was for me. No one knew where we were staying as I had not contacted anyone to let them know where we were staying. I took the phone and a spanish sounding voice on the other end asked if this was me. I said yes and he said "don't have your surgery tomorrow, it's not your turn to die..." I was floored, no one that knew I was to have my surgery had been contacted. I asked "who is this?" and he said, "it's Oscar". The only person I knew by that named had died the year before of cancer. I had worked with him at the factory and he would stop every shift and talk to me. In the background I could hear hundreds of voices and I asked him where he was at and he said, "I am in between Heaven and Earth..." Then he told me again not to have my surgery, as it was not my turn to die and the connection went dead. I could hardly believe that this had happened and I told my friends about the phone call. I called my brother and told him about the call, they were still about an hour away from Boise, he knew this friend as he worked at the same factory as we did. He told me that I better take the call seriously and they would see us in a little while and we would go eat. We discussed the phone call over dinner and my mother and brother both agreed that I had better talk to my doctor about it, at least about my concern. The next morning we went to the hospital just before 6am and they started getting me ready, I asked to see my doctor and they told me he would be there in a few minutes. I looked through the door a few minutes later and he was pacing back and forth in tight circles in front of my door. Then he came in and before I could tell him what had happened, he said that my surgery had been postponed for a week and that the head doctor of the department would be in to see me in a few minutes. When the other doctor came in, he told me that the doctor that was scheduled to do the surgery had lost the last three patients he had and they were all from my area. He had rescheduled my surgery for one week later and that he would be doing the surgery. One week later, I had the surgery and went through it with out any problems. I thank God that he allows our friends to warn us when it's not are turn to die. I also thank God for giving me a second chance and for giving us friends that care enough to change the future. |

Re: Scary Stories (Compilation)
Unwanted Presence
It was late at night when it happened to me. I was freakishly terrified. It was a long day and I was tired. My sister had turned off the lights and went in bed, we share a bed so I slept next to her. For some reason, I couldn't go to sleep. Yeah, I'm afraid of the dark... I put the covers over me even though it was burning hot, my heart was racing, I didn't want to hear anything creepy nor see anything. I kept quiet, I just laid there. I couldn't take it no more and so I started to turn on my other side. Until, I paused. I couldn't move, or say anything. I gasped for breath and tried to move my feet and fingers. I was completely paralyzed, I opened my eyes and saw this huge black figure standing before me, I blinked a couple of times so I couldn't really make out the details. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. I tightly closed my eyes as cold chills went down my spine. I could feel it, tears coming out of my eyes. I was so scared, I didn't know what to do. But then I quickly turned almost smacking my arm on my sister but luckily I stopped in time. I looked over to see the figure had turned a pupleish blueish and it disappeared. I wiped my tears, and woke up my sister. |

Re: Scary Stories (Compilation)
My Son's Friend
It seems that sensitivity runs in the family. I have always felt presences and even had some experiences, but I'll save some of those for another time. This is about my son's experience with a spirit. We moved into our home about a year ago, and everything seemed quiet. I sensed something was there but not in a harmful way. Well one night about three weeks ago I was walking through our house just making sure all the lights were off before going to bed myself, as I was approaching my son's room I could hear him talking to someone. He was actually holding a conversations with someone. I asked him who he was talking to, he replied my new friend, so I asked about his new friend. He told me his friend's name was John and that he used to live here before we moved in. I said ok and told him to get some sleep. I went to my room and asked my fiancee if he ever told our son the name of the gentleman that lived here before we did. He said "no, why?" so I told him what happened. You see John was the name of the man that lived in the house for a long time and passed away in the bathroom a little over two years ago. And we live across the street from the cemetery where he was buried. |

Re: Scary Stories (Compilation)
The Man in the Class Window
I study in a very old school in Zamboanga. Ateneo de Zamboanga University is a very old school, it was founded during American era and I'm not surprised that so many spirits dwell the campus. I remember when I spent my first overnight in our school. My classmates and I were very excited for the said event because it will be one of the last times we'll be all together since we were graduating that same year. Our moderator told us to occupy two rooms on the fourth floor of the HS building because another section was occupying the HS AVR. My friends and I prepared for this overnight and we brought a huge radio component so that no one will get bored that night. It was about 9-10 pm that night when a friend of mine turned up the volume of the radio, that's the time that most of us were dancing in front of an empty classroom and on the hallway of the fourth floor. My best friend, Fabie (not his real name) and my classmates were dancing in front of the Campion Room when suddenly Dags (not his real name also) noticed an obscure reflection on the glass of the door. It was an image of a man wearing a uniform with no seal and had a black complexion and it almost looked like that it had no head due to the dark surroundings. He thought that it was just the reflection of our other classmates who's with him that night on the hallway. He pushed Vohaary to see if its Voh's reflection then the image of the boy didn't move, after that he pushed Alwasir to see if its Al's reflection but the image didn't move either. He started looking around and noticed that everyone was dancing and he realized that no one was wearing a uniform that night. The hair on the back of his neck stood up then pulled Dags to his spot and pointed to the glass of the door then ran inside our sleeping quarters. Dags, who was a clairvoyant, also noticed the reflection of the man but thought that it was only his reflection, as he danced to the sound of the beat he was shocked that the reflection didn't moved, then he realized that things weren't normal anymore, so he also rushed inside to another classroom. "Pare, nakita mo yun? Yung bata naka uniform?"(have you seen that? The boy wearing a uniform?) Asked Fabie. "Nakita mo rin pare? Grabe! Akala ko ako yun nakikita ko pero hindi pala!"(You've also seen that? All I thought was who I'm looking at but it really wasn't me!) Dags exclaimed. Matt and I overheard their commotions and asked what happened. "Nakakita kami ng multo, parang estudyante na naka uniform pero walang ulo" (We saw a ghost, he looks like a headless student wearing a uniform.) Fabie whispered, so our other classmates won't be scared. "Huwe? Barbero! Walang ulo? Guni guni mo lang yan pare!" (oh come on! Headless? It's just you're imagination!) I said to Fabie. "Totoo, tanungin mo pa si Dags, nakita rin niya." (It's true, ask Dags, he also saw it.) Fabie explained. "Oo Gagi! Parang walang ulo dahil ang itim talaga niya." (Yeah! He looks like headless because he's so very dark.) Dags said with a hysterical face or maybe it's just he's reaction when he sees a ghost. Matt and I were so curious that we tried to see the so-called apparition on the glass but we saw nothing. After that we tried to ignore the scary event and enjoyed the night away. Days have passed then weeks; nothing unusual happened after that scary experience, but we never dared to stay late in our classroom because of the man in the glass window. A month has passed since that faithful encounter, but what comes after would shock me completely. It was Family Day, a special event in our school, so there were numerous students in the school that night. It was almost 7 p.m and almost all the buildings in our campus were deserted because it was Sunday and all the people are on the backfield. Since the program was dull and boring the class decided to do some "extra-curricular" activities. So as adventurous teens, we tried to amuse ourselves and decided to go on another ghost hunting expedition. We split in small groups, some went to the college building, some went to the LRC building and the others went to the HS room. The ones who went to the HS building climbed up until the fourth floor of the building without knowing what had happen to Fabie in the past. As they walked past the hallway, one girl saw someone was standing inside the Campion Room, the same classroom were Fabie and Dags saw the apparition. It was a man with dark complexion that almost looked decapitated since it had no head. She asked herself someone in that room late at night and wearing a uniform since it was Sunday. Realizing what they saw wasn't normal, they rushed down the building as fast as they could. After the scary experiences our classmates have endured, never again did we dare to get inside the building during nighttime. To this day, no one has any idea of the identity of that man in the mirror and what he wants to say. Some assumed that it was one of the students who committed suicide during the 90's, others say that it was one of the restless souls that got disturbed, since our school was build on top of a old abandoned cemetery. I guess, we'll never know, but that experience was the thing we needed to remember our high school memories bye. |
